The Process

Artist / Project Statement:

The main skill I developed throughout this unit was the ability to organize in general: turning static into meaning. In the creation of my own recycled object, I made my design based on the surplus on radiators I discovered while exploring Bauer Bros Salvage alongside other materials I found there. I took the chaos jumble of salvaged items saw there and found a way they could to synthesized into a unique and functional piece. Additionally, throughout this module I developed my ability to lead my team by providing organization. I helped guide us by ensuring goals were clear to all of us, creating helpful lists and charts, and communicating openly. This allowed my team to bring our variety of perspectives and concepts together into a concise and effective zine. I chose this image of an art project I am currently developing to demonstrate this as I am working on bringing a variety of metal and plastic scrap pieces I found from a surplus store -- which independently don't communicate anything -- together to create a bold city-skyline for the background of my artwork.
