Serene and Savage
The studio has always been a place where I reconcile the contradictions of the natural world. There is a specific kind of electricity that fills the air when a piece begins to take on a life of its own, and for me, that moment arrived with Exploration. It began as a meditation on the quiet hum of energy you feel when standing in a landscape that is simultaneously breathtaking and intimidating. I wanted to capture the inner spirit of nature—the version that only reveals itself when we stop to truly look.
I am incredibly proud to share that Exploration has been selected for the Landscape 2026: Serene and Savage national exhibition. The theme of the show is a perfect mirror for my creative process, as it explores the duality of the earth’s exterior. Nature can be a sanctuary of glowing sunsets and picturesque seacoasts, but it can also be a ferocious force of raging storms and jagged cliffs. My work lives in the tension between those two states, seeking to find the precise point where the tranquil meets the formidable.
The venue for this exhibition adds a profound layer of meaning to the selection. My work will be traveling to the MVA Gallery, also known as Modern Visual Arts, located in the historic heart of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The gallery is led by a director with deep roots in the New York City art world and a mission to create a stimulating environment for contemporary dialogue. What makes this location truly remarkable is that Bethlehem’s historic district was recently designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To have my work showcased in a city officially recognized as a treasure of humanity is a highlight of my career.
Being part of a national exhibition means that Exploration will be in conversation with a diverse collection of visions from artists across the United States. Whether the interpretations are realistic or abstract, the exhibition serves as a collective statement on how landscape art appeals to our most profound human emotions. It is a reminder that we are all navigating a world that is constantly shifting between the intimate and the vast.
The exhibition is scheduled to run from May 9 through June 6, 2026. The exhibition will be located in Exhibition Room One and Two.
