Snurple
Character Design: I created the design for Snurple last, and I was not originally as invested. I had planned on using another design and Snurple was just a random idea. But as I created Snurple's story, I quickly fell in love. I just think Snurple is so adorable and I think that the design turned out amazing. Snurple's 3D design is shockingly accurate to the designs and even cuter. Appearance: Snurple is a mix of a snail's shell, a turtle's tactics, and the cuteness of a purple kitten.

Snurple is typically found rolling around garden beds looking for the most beautiful flower. Snurple lives on land in plants and flowers of all kinds. Snurple is adventurous and will attempt any expedition, despite Snurple's limited capabilities. It is shy and quick and always gets into trouble. It is like a turtle in the sense that it can retreat its limbs and tail into its snail shell, avoiding harm. It uses its noodle-like limbs and tail to effortlessly climb trees and plants. Backstory: Snurple was born as just a purple flower seed and grew into a small kitten about the size of a penny. Once it was hatched, it was alone and afraid. A lovely snail took it under its shell. Snurple learned the ways of snail life, exploring the garden landscapes. As it grew up, it fell in love with plants and flowers, and it began a quest to find the most beautiful one. It now explores the gardens of the world searching. Prototype 3D Design: When creating my first prototype, my first goal was to create the snail shell. After scrolling through many shapes, I could not find exactly what I was looking for. I tried to create the shell first using rounded cylinders and a draw-on swirl. This was a flop and it ended up looking like a cinnaman roll. Final 3D Design: Later, I managed to find an equiangular spiral shape generator. I used this to fine-tune the snail shell. I created the limbs using a curved tube shape generator. I added half-spheres to the ends to smooth them out. Then, I used spheres to shape the paws. I also used a differently shaped tube to create the neck. I used a sphere for the head and eyes. I used a triangular prism shape for the nose and hollowed it using a smaller transparent version of the shape. I used cones for the ears. I made the tail using a spiral shape generator. I made the belly using a bean shape generator and a sphere. I added texture to the shell using a ring shape. Printed Design: I think that this final print actually turned out really well. The shade it was printed in happened to be the exact shade of Snurple Purple. Snurple also was printed basically the exact same size it would be in real life. In this challenge, I learned how to use the 3D design software Tinkercad. It was fun and challenging learning how to manipulate shapes and navigate through the program. I also learned how to use shape generators which I did not even know was possible. In general, I think I really learned the most in this challenge. I feel like I was not only able to make progress in class but also to spend enough time out of class working on the assignment. I feel like a lot of the work for this project was done outside of class in my own free time. This was because the challenge did require a lot of time for tinkering, and also because it was enjoyable to work on. When I was in class, I asked questions about the challenge that I could not figure out on my own. The character design challenge was very different from the other projects, and it gave me the opportunity to use more creativity in the design process. I feel like overall I was able to make the most of my time with this challenge. I also got to draw my designs and come up with backstories, which was fun and engaging. CHAOTIC Positive
