Redefining Wilderness Safety: The Story of Wildera
Camping and hiking often take place in significantly to extremely remote areas—making it difficult to get help during an emergency. At the same time, hikers and campers face unpredictable wildlife encounters. In one survey, 53% believed wilderness travel is at least moderately dangerous, and over half reported fear of animal encounters while hiking or camping.
Current solutions fall short. Ultrasonic repellents are stationary and provide no emergency support. Trail cameras capture images but don’t deter animals. Satellite devices are expensive and complex—and none combine animal detection, deterrence, and emergency response in one system.
So I asked:
How might we help people feel secure and safe from predators and isolation in the wilderness?
The answer became Wildera.
Wildera is a tree-mounted, solar-powered wildlife safety system that combines AI animal recognition, a high-frequency silent deterrent, alert lights, and a built-in SOS satellite emergency button. When wildlife is detected, the device alerts the user and activates deterrents. If needed, an emergency button contacts designated emergency services and personal contacts.
A companion app logs sightings, displays time-stamped reports, provides interactive danger maps, and allows users to customize frequency and sensitivity settings. Unlike Wi-Fi-dependent devices, Wildera operates independently in remote areas.
Targeted toward campers, national parks, and extreme outdoor explorers, Wildera represents a new era of wilderness safety—bridging the gap between prevention and protection.
Because adventure should feel wild—not unsafe.
