The Process

Artist / Project Statement:
Reagan is a God-like, supernatural being that has been present as long as water has existed, finding her home in the oceans of Earth billions of years ago via an asteroid. She has total dominion over the ocean and all of its creatures, both those that naturally evolved and those mystical sea creatures such as mermaids, sirens, and the Kraken, which she designed herself. She is also responsible for historically enacting the vengeance of the sea upon those crossing who she wishes to punish and reap their souls, causing catastrophic storms and summoning her children, causing the untimely demise of many sailors and spurring many legends for centuries to come. Despite her impressive legacy, today Ms. Medusa prefers to enjoy the pleasures of human society, dwelling primarily in major seaside cities from LA to Tokyo in disguise as a human, only engaging in ocean affairs part-time. Though she had no negative intention towards her beautiful and diverse home, Reagan’s pursuit of personal joy over her maritime duties has resulted in some truly unjust crimes against her waters that she may soon be forced to grapple with.

• Physical Appearance: ombre, color-changing (depending on ocean biome) jellyfish-haircut; pale skin with light, pastel colored freckles  

• Clothing/Costume: large, shark-shaped, & color changing cloak; shark tooth-serrated scythe; color changing athleisure clothes, & white sneakers

• Affect on Movement: she moves very intentionally, with vigor and passion, while maintaining a sombre/serious expression

• Poses: action poses (swinging scythe, rising waves, commanding sea creatures, etc.) & reflective poses (overlooking bays, observing reefs, meditating on the ocean floor, etc.)

• Personality: stoic, noble, observant, reflective, insightful, appreciative of life, serious but also kind hearted, whimsical, & isolated; INFJ 9w8 personality type

• Special powers / Abilities: reaping/harvesting souls; ocean/storm water manipulation; communication with ocean creatures
