The Process

Artist / Project Statement:
For this second piece in my wire sculpture series, I chose to capture two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who are close family friends to my own dogs, Evie and Rose. I wanted this work to feel like a continuation of the first, but also to highlight the unique personalities of these dogs through expression and line.

Having already learned from the challenges of my first wire sculpture, I was more intentional with planning the path of the wire and how each contour would define form. Even with this preparation, the medium remained unpredictable — the wire resisted at times, forcing me to adjust and refine my approach. I enjoyed how this unpredictability added character to the final piece.

This sculpture expands the series beyond my immediate family, using the same medium to connect relationships through shared experiences with beloved pets. Like the first work, it balances precision and play, emphasizing how a single continuous line can suggest both likeness and spirit.
