Mega 2026
I am incredibly excited to announce that my clay and paint sculpture, Gargoyle, has been selected for Biafarin's Mega 2026 international exhibition!
Completed in 2023, this piece draws inspiration from the mythical protectors found on cathedrals, blurring the boundary between animal and architecture. I wanted to capture the dual nature of these guardians—both their watchfulness and their playfulness—by inventing a creature that feels simultaneously familiar and otherworldly.
By giving the figure exaggerated ears, an elongated body, and a curling tail, the form pushes into abstraction while maintaining a sense of movement and alertness. I experimented heavily with proportion and layered color to emphasize its hybrid qualities. The green body roots the form in nature, while the white and pink head gives it a spectral, almost stone-like presence.
Like traditional gargoyles, this piece is an imagined guardian meant to invite curiosity while keeping watch. Creating it was an exploration of how biological form and symbolism can merge within a three-dimensional structure, and it challenged me to think about how architectural ornament is narrative, actively shaping the identity of a space.
It is a huge honor to see this study of form and narrative recognized on a global stage like Biafarin Mega. Thank you to everyone who continues to support my work!
