Schwa Show
My mixed-media work Birth has been selected for The 2026 Schwa Show, a national juried exhibition at Emerge Gallery & Art Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
One of two national juried exhibitions hosted by Emerge each year, the Schwa Show received nearly 500 submissions from approximately 115 artists across 23 states. Juror Holly Garriott, Executive Director of Emerge and a teaching assistant professor in East Carolina University’s School of Art and Design, selected just 47 works by artists from 16 states for the final exhibition.
Speaking with The Daily Reflector, Emerge’s Julia Lazure described the strength of the final selection: “This makes a really strong show that you would never know came from so many different people.”
The exhibition also marks the 25th anniversary of both Emerge Gallery and the Schwa Show. Birth, part of my ongoing Experience Through Insects series, will be on view at Emerge Gallery from October 2–31, 2026, opening in conjunction with Downtown Greenville’s First Friday ArtWalk.
