Shapes and Colors

I'm honored to share that my mixed-media sculpture Untitled (tree) has been selected for Gallerium's Shapes and Colors 2026, an international juried exhibition celebrating the fundamental visual language of art. The exhibition highlights how shapes and colors become powerful tools for expressing ideas and emotions beyond words, bringing together artists from around the world who explore these essential elements in unique ways.

For this work, I wanted shape and color to carry the meaning as much as the subject itself. The layered rectangular canvases create a rhythm of overlapping planes, suggesting structure, architecture, and stability, while the flowing blue thread interrupts that order with an organic energy. Rather than using color descriptively, I inverted expectations: the vibrant blue tree becomes the focal point, existing somewhere between landscape, memory, and abstraction. The tension between rigid geometry and the fluid movement of the stitched thread creates a dialogue between the built and the natural, permanence and change.

I am grateful to Gallerium for including Untitled (tree) in Shapes and Colors 2026. It is exciting to see this piece recognized in an exhibition that celebrates the visual building blocks of art. As my work continues to evolve, I remain fascinated by how simple forms, carefully chosen materials, and unexpected color relationships can communicate ideas that extend well beyond representation
