The Cats of Diet Coke
My Art for Art's Sake Sculpture: The goal for this sculpture was just to create art using our objects of something we were passionate about or interested in. I chose to create some fun adorable cats because cats are my absolute favorite animal and I have been making art of cats for as long as I can remember; they were on my mind recently from creating the wire cat culture as well as drawing a lot of doodles of the cat on the right. I was interested in trying some different techniques and styles of creating cats and exploring them in 3D. One thing I did well was use different unique shapes, textures, and features of the cans to create interesting cat features. For example, using the naturally bent parts from the bottom of the cans to create large ears. Another example would be using the soda tabs to create cat eyes. I also used a whole can as if the cat is hiding inside a trash can, a 'can cat' or 'cat can'. One thing I think I could have done better was create more mini-cats as well. I would have liked to create mini clone cat armies of both cats. I love mini things and it would have added more detail in the sculpture.
