Vision and Verse

I am thrilled to share that two of my recent works, Genesis and Birth, have been selected for Vision and Verse, an exhibition at the White Bear Center for the Arts.

This exhibition is particularly meaningful to me because it celebrates the intersection of visual storytelling and creative voice. The pieces are part of my Experience through Insects series, where I explore the profound phases of existence and identity through a surrealist lens.

  • Genesis was my first exploration with making my own stretched canvas. It captures the very "explosion" of life—a supernova background representing the energy of creation, centered around a bug egg to symbolize the potential and complexity of a soul before it enters the world.

  • Birth is a larger collage with paint work. I used vintage prints and newspaper clips from the 1920s to create a hospital nursery setting. By placing "bug-egg-babies" in a monochrome, weathered environment, I wanted to capture the strange, overwhelming sensation of entering a world already filled with history, consumerism, and complex societal structures.

If you are in the White Bear Lake area, I would love for you to see these works in person. The exhibition runs from April 13 through May 15, 2026.

There will also be a Community Reception on Thursday, April 16, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with an awards ceremony at 7:00 PM. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support local artists and see the incredible range of work on display. I hope to see you there.
