Atlas Cultural Foundation
In partnership with the Atlas Cultural Foundation, I work to dismantle the geographic and educational barriers facing Morocco’s remote mountain communities. I believe in hands-on support: bringing art education to the local school, learning traditional masonry to build community center walls, planting crops for local agriculture, and studying the topography through my own plein air paintings.
The Atlas Cultural Foundation works in Morocco’s remote mountain and desert regions where there is a high concentration of vulnerable, marginalized and disadvantaged people. These regions are challenged by geographic, economic, educational, and traditional barriers.
-
Executed structural development in the Atlas Mountains. Collaborated with regional masonry teams to construct load-bearing infrastructure, utilizing locally sourced split-stone and mastering traditional mortar pointing techniques to ensure the environmental resilience of the build.
-
Facilitated foundational color theory workshops for local youth, utilizing primary pigment mixing to bridge linguistic barriers. Deployed visual arts programming as a universal framework for cross-cultural communication, directly integrating core studio mechanics into regional community education.
-
Executed manual, hand-tilled planting of regional crops within the Atlas topography. Navigated and maintained traditional gravity-fed irrigation channels to ensure sustainable water distribution, observing indigenous methods of resource management.
-
Executed a series of plein air studies across four distinct Moroccan topographies. Utilized rapid visual capture to analyze regional geologic formations and atmospheric light, directly informing the structural concepts later developed in finalizing core studio series.
Architecture and Traditional masonry
Got my hands dirty building a Community Center in Zawiya Ahansal, located in the providence of Azilal. Collaborated with regional masonry teams to construct load-bearing infrastructure, utilizing locally sourced split-stone and mastering traditional mortar pointing techniques to ensure the environmental resilience of the build.
The Community Center is built on land is uniquely layered with a history of tribal rights and stunning natural beauty. The locals are Imazighen and the languages spoken are Tamazight, Moroccan Arabic (darija), Classical Arabic, and French.

Sustainable Agriculture
